Banks and currency exchange offices in Türkiye have resumed accepting old-style dollar cash, according to RIA Novosti, citing government sources.
According to sources, local authorities have taken steps to normalize the situation, and the issue with accepting old-style dollars has been completely resolved. Tourists, they say, should not encounter any difficulties exchanging currency.
If difficulties do arise, agency sources recommend contacting tour operators to resolve the situation. Such incidents, sources note, are isolated and localized and do not reflect the overall situation in the country.
Problems with accepting old-style dollars in Turkey arose in the fall of 2024: some banks and currency exchange offices refused to accept the currency due to the increasing number of counterfeits. Following this, the authorities began taking measures to normalize the situation.
