Slavko Vincic will referee the World Cup final

Slovenian referee Slavko Vincic has been appointed the head referee for the World Cup final, the Federation Internationale de Football Association (FIFA) press service announced.

The final match of the tournament between Argentina and Spain will take place on July 19, with kickoff at 00:00 Ashgabat time. Vincic will be assisted by his compatriots Tomaz Klancnik and Andraz Kovacic. Adham Mahadmeh of Jordan has been appointed fourth official, and his assistant is Mohammad Al-Khalaf of the same country.

Vinčić, 46, has held a FIFA refereeing rank since 2010. In 2024, the Slovenian referee officiated the Champions League final and refereed four matches at the current World Cup. In the Round of 32 match between Mexico and Ecuador, which ended in a 2-0 victory for Mexico, Vincic sent off Ecuadorian defender Piero Incapie for covering his mouth with his hand during a conversation with an opponent.
