Bosnia and Herzegovina beat Qatar to keep their chances of reaching the 2026 World Cup playoffs alive

Bosnia and Herzegovina defeated Qatar 3-1 in their third round group stage match at the 2018 FIFA World Cup. Qatar was eliminated from the tournament.

The winning goals were scored by Kerim Alajbegovic (29th minute) and Ermin Mamic (80th); in the 34th minute, Qatari defender Mahmoud Abunada scored an own goal. Hassan Al-Haidos (42nd) scored for Qatar.

Bosnia and Herzegovina earned 4 points and finished third in group B, keeping their chances of advancing to the playoffs. Qatar, with 1 point, finished last and out of the tournament. Switzerland won the group (7 points), while Canada finished second (4 points).

The first two teams of each group, as well as the eight best teams that took third place in their quartets, advance to the playoffs.

The World Championships take place in the USA, Canada and Mexico. For the first time, 48 teams are participating in the tournament. The final will take place on July 19. The current champion is the Argentina national team.
