Musk became the first trillionaire in history: SpaceX IPO increased his fortune to 1,1 trillion USD

The SpaceX IPO has made what seemed impossible just a few years ago possible – Elon Musk has officially become the first trillionaire in human history.

SpaceX announced an offering price of 135 USD per share, valuing the company at approximately 1,77 trillion USD. As a result of the IPO, Musk's stake in SpaceX amounted to about 830 billion USD, and taking into account his 290 billion USD stake in Tesla, his total wealth reached 1,1 trillion USD, The Washington Post reports.

For comparison, at the beginning of June, Forbes estimated Musk's net worth at approximately 788,8 billion USD. Thus, in a matter of days, the entrepreneur added more than 300 billion USD.

For 54-year-old Musk, SpaceX's IPO was his second major IPO, following Tesla, which he brought to market 16 years ago. He now controls two of the eight most valuable companies in the United States.

Analysts, however, point to the specifics of this new wealth: Musk's 1,1 trillion USD fortune is largely dependent on the implementation of SpaceX's ambitious plans, including landing humans on Mars. In other words, this is paper wealth, tied to the company's future performance, not its current financial indicators. SpaceX's revenue of 18,67 billion USD last year lags significantly behind giants like MetaTrader (200+ billion USD) and Tesla (95 billion USD).

To spend a trillion dollars before his 100th birthday—the remaining 46 years—Musk would have to spend about 60 million USD a day.
