Prospects for Turkmen-American business cooperation discussed in Ashgabat

A Turkmen-American business forum, held in a roundtable format, was held in Ashgabat, according to the Turkmen Foreign Ministry.

The event was attended by heads of ministries and departments of Turkmenistan, as well as a delegation of American entrepreneurs led by Eric Stewart, Executive Director of the Turkmen-American Business Council.

During the forum, the Turkmen side emphasized the country's openness to effective cooperation and its willingness to support the US business community's efforts to strengthen its position in the Turkmen market. It was noted that the country has created a favorable investment climate and the necessary legal framework for doing business.

Representatives of the American business community confirmed their intention to actively participate in the implementation of Turkmenistan's large-scale government programs. President Serdar Berdimuhamedov's visit to the United States last year, as well as this year's visit by National Leader of the Turkmen People and Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty, Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, were cited as providing new impetus for bilateral cooperation.

The parties discussed priority areas of partnership: trade and investment, industry, agriculture, fuel and energy, transport and communications, and construction, as well as cooperation in innovative technologies, cybersecurity, healthcare, and environmental protection.

Forum participants also noted that the Turkmenistan-American Business Cooperation Association (TABCA), established in May of this year, will serve as an additional platform for developing trade and economic ties between the two countries. The forum included bilateral meetings between representatives of relevant ministries and agencies of Turkmenistan and American businesspeople.
