Turkmen athletes won nine medals at the Kyokushin Karate Championships in Germany

On May 22–23, 2026, the International Kyokushin Karate Championship was held in Bad Nauheim, Germany. The Turkmenistan team competed and won nine awards of various denominations.

Five gold medals were won by: Aimyrat Ediev, a student at the Turkmen State Institute of Physical Culture and Sports (age group 22–39 years old, up to 70 kg), Shikhnazar Shirzadov, a student at the same university (18–21 years old, up to 70 kg), Myratali Amanov, deputy chairman of the Kyokushinkai Karate Center of Turkmenistan (40 years and older, up to 90 kg), Ali Begmyradov (12–13 years old, up to 40 kg), and Jeyhun Bayrammamedov (10–11 years old, up to 30 kg).

Silver medals went to team captain Meylis Pashakuliev (22–39 years old, up to 90 kg), Turkmenistan border service officer Annadurdy Gurbankylychov (22–39 years old, up to 80 kg) and Ainur Nurzhanova (14–15 years old, up to 45 kg).

Myrat Ekayev (22-39 years old, over 90 kg) won bronze.

Approximately 350 athletes from Germany, the USA, Japan, Italy, Hungary, Belgium, Romania, Moldova, Ukraine, and Turkmenistan took part in the championship.
