In Turkmenistan, the implementation of the international e-TIR system is nearing completion

In Turkmenistan, the implementation of the e-TIR international system is nearing completion. This issue was raised during a coordination working meeting held via videoconference on May 20, according to the website of the State Customs Service of Turkmenistan.

The meeting was attended by representatives of the International Road Transport Union (IRU), the Turkmenistan International Road Carriers Association (THADA) and the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe (UNECE).

During the meeting, issues of technical coordination, international experience, and practical steps for launching the system were discussed.

The necessary organizational and technical framework for the launch has already been established. Furthermore, preparations are underway for test shipments jointly with customs authorities in Central Asian countries.

E-TIR is a digital version of the international customs transit system developed under the auspices of the International Road Transport Union (IRU) and the World Customs Organization (WCO). It enables the electronic processing of customs documents for the transport of goods across countries participating in the TIR Convention.
