Turkmenistan will host celebrations to mark the Turkmen Carpet Festival, which is celebrated on May 31 this year.

As Deputy Prime Minister N.Atagulyev reported at a government meeting, an exhibition of carpets and carpet products is planned for this occasion, the XXVI meeting of the World Association of Turkmen Carpet Connoisseurs.

The National Museum of Turkmen Carpets plans to hold a ceremony honoring carpet weavers who have been awarded the state award – the Honorary Title “Türkmenistanyň at gazanan halyçysy” – for their great achievements in the development and improvement of the national art of carpet weaving.

Renowned carpet experts, enthusiasts of the art of Turkmen carpet weaving, scholars, specialists, and representatives of carpet-weaving companies from around the world are expected to attend the meeting of the World Association of Turkmen Carpet Connoisseurs.

The "Arşyň nepisligi" and "Janly rowaýat" conferences are also planned for the capital.

President Serdar Berdimuhamedov instructed the Deputy Prime Minister to properly prepare for the events marking the Turkmen Carpet Festival and ensure they are held at a high level, the State News Agency of Turkmenistan reports.
