Serdar Berdimuhamedov: Turkmenistan serves as a connecting link in the CIS

Turkmenistan is responsibly fulfilling its mission as CIS Chairman in 2026 and is consistently implementing the corresponding chairmanship concept. President Serdar Berdimuhamedov stated this at a meeting with CIS Secretary General Sergey Lebedev, the State News Agency of Turkmenistan reports.

According to the head of state, Turkmenistan, relying on its status as an associate member of the CIS, continues to act as a bridge to strengthen partnerships within the Commonwealth, initiating projects in logistics and humanitarian exchanges. All planned events under the chairmanship concept are being implemented on schedule.

Serdar Berdimuhamedov specifically highlighted the upcoming meeting of the CIS Heads of State Council, scheduled for October 9 on the Caspian Sea coast. He stated that the summit will be a key event of the year: the forum will discuss initiatives designed to give new impetus to cooperation and strengthen partnership within the Commonwealth.

The President also expressed gratitude to the members of the CIS Executive Committee and to Lebedev personally for their professional contribution to organizing joint cooperation.

Lebedev visited Ashgabat to participate in the meeting of the CIS Heads of Government Council, which took place on May 22. Turkmenistan will chair the Commonwealth in 2026.
