Employees of the “Morinzhgeologiya” group of service enterprises climbed the Nepalese eight-thousander Annapurna (8 091 m) and planted the national flag of Turkmenistan on the summit. The expedition was timed to coincide with the country's Constitution and National Flag Day, according to the online newspaper "Golden Age."
Annapurna, located in central Nepal, is the tenth highest mountain in the world. In 1950, it made history as the first eight-thousander to be conquered. The massif is considered one of the most dangerous to climb due to extreme weather conditions and a high avalanche risk.
The current expedition adds to the list of achievements of the holding's mountaineering team. Previously, “Morinzhgeologiya's” team has conquered Everest, K2, Manaslu, Aconcagua, Amu Dablam, Kilimanjaro, Ararat, Mont Blanc, and the Matterhorn—with the Turkmen flag raised on each summit.
The “Morinzhgeologiya” group of service companies specializes in geophysical and engineering-geological surveys on the Caspian shelf and cooperates with leading international energy companies, including Dragon Oil, Petronas Carigali, PJSC LUKOIL, JSC NC KazMunayGas, and SOCAR, the report notes.
