Ashgabat is preparing to host the CIS Council of Heads of Government

The capital of Turkmenistan is preparing to host the next meeting of the CIS Heads of Government Council, which will take place on May 22. Preparations for the event were discussed at a meeting of the Council of Permanent Plenipotentiary Representatives of the CIS countries in Minsk, the Executive Committee's press service reported.

According to Igor Petrishenko, First Deputy Secretary-General of the CIS, the presiding party invited all participants and further agreed on the agenda. It includes 12 issues covering various areas of economic cooperation and enhancing the effectiveness of interaction within the Commonwealth.

According to the CIS Executive Committee, key topics include cooperation in congress and exhibition activities, the integration of transport corridors within the CIS countries, the digital transformation of the mining and metallurgical complex, and collaboration in the field of radio navigation.

At the meeting, the permanent representatives also summarized the results of the meeting of CIS foreign ministers held on April 17 in Moscow and outlined the tasks for implementing the decisions made. Separately, they discussed the prospects for the development of rail transport in the Commonwealth and the report by Yevgeny Sysoyev, head of the CIS Anti-Terrorism Center, on the results of the anti-terrorism program for 2023–2025.

Turkmenistan will chair the CIS bodies in 2026.
