Alpaslan: Relations between Turkey and Turkmenistan are based on the principle of “One people, two states”

On April 14, the Turkish Embassy's Cultural Center in Ashgabat held the grand opening of Türkiye Tourism Week. The event was attended by Nadir Alpaslan, Deputy Minister of Culture and Tourism of the Republic of Türkiye, and Ahmet Demirok, Turkish Ambassador to Turkmenistan.

In his welcoming remarks, Ambassador Demirok noted that Türkiye, thanks to its geographical location, natural beauty, distinctive cuisine, and rich historical and cultural heritage, is among the world's leading tourist destinations. He stated that the country offers vacation opportunities throughout all four seasons of the year. The ambassador also emphasized that Türkiye is the most popular tourist destination among Turkmen citizens.

Deputy Minister Alpaslan, in turn, emphasized the strategic importance of tourism in the context of bilateral relations between the two countries. According to him, ties between Türkiye and Turkmenistan extend far beyond ordinary diplomatic relations and are based on the principle of "One Nation, Two States." He also noted that Türkiye is now positioning itself not just as a beach holiday destination, but as a multifaceted tourist destination encompassing archaeological, gastronomic, health, and religious tourism within the framework of one of the most comprehensive sustainable tourism programs in the world.

Alpaslan also expressed hope that the combination of Turkmenistan's unique historical heritage and Türkiye’s global tourism brand will give new impetus to the development of the Silk Road corridor as one of the most attractive tourist routes in the world. He cited the development of mutual investment and more efficient use of the two countries' transport infrastructure as priorities.

The event included a photo exhibition and guests were offered traditional Turkish cuisine.
