Last year, Azerbaijan welcomed approximately two million foreign visitors, setting a five-year record. Tour operators note that the country is most frequently visited by tourists from Russia, Asian countries, and the United Arab Emirates, reports “MIR 24” correspondent Narmin Abasova.
Many travelers begin exploring the country's unique sights on the plane, and Heydar Aliyev International Airport impresses with its architecture and excellent service. Tourists praise the ease of travel and the hospitality of the staff. Next, they embark on cruises around Baku, including a boat ride along the Primorsky Boulevard on the "Pearl" boat, and visit the “Icheri Sheher” historical and architectural reserve.
Azerbaijani cuisine is no less popular with tourists. In the village of Jorat, they offer qutabs filled with pumpkin, herbs, cheese, and even camel meat, while in the capital, you can try shashlik, kebab, and a variety of soups. According to tour operators, over 800,000 tourists have visited the country since the beginning of this year, and this figure is expected to increase significantly by the end of September. Azerbaijan is preparing to host the CIS Games, which, according to experts, will further strengthen the country's position as a tourist destination.
