During the opening ceremony of the Gorkut Ata International Film Festival in Ashgabat, a symbolic transfer of the baton to the next organizer of the festival took place, TDH reports.
Turkmenistan will hand over the Crane statuette to Kazakhstan, a traditional symbol of the continuity of the Turkic peoples’ film forum.
At the opening ceremony, a young man in a Turkmen national costume brought the transitional symbol of the festival, the Crane statuette, onto the stage, which will go to the Kazakh side this year. Let us recall that Turkmenistan itself received this statuette last year at the III Turkic World Film Festival.
The current festival Is being held in Ashgabat in connection with the assignment of the status of the cultural capital of the Turkic world in 2024 to the ancient Turkmen city of Anau. The event is attended by delegations from various Turkic states, including representatives from Kazakhstan, who, along with other honored guests, walked the traditional red carpet during the opening ceremony.
The Gorkut ata Film Festival aims to strengthen cooperation between Turkic states in the field of cinematography and promote the cultural heritage of the Turkic peoples in the international arena.
