At the second “Central Asia – Germany” summit in Astana, President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov called for closer political and diplomatic interaction between the countries of Central Asia and Germany. In his opinion, such cooperation can have a significant positive impact on the situation in the region and surrounding areas.
As the State News Agency of Turkmenistan reports, the head of the Turkmen state emphasized the importance of achieving and maintaining regional peace, security and stability. He noted that Turkmenistan, as a neutral and peace-loving state, attaches fundamental importance to this. Serdar Berdimuhamedov expressed his readiness to provide comprehensive assistance in achieving this goal within the framework of the “Central Asia - Germany” format.
The President of Turkmenistan proposed strengthening diplomatic contacts between the states of Central Asia and Germany, paying special attention to the fight against international terrorism, extremism, drug trafficking and cross-border crime. He also called for joint action to counter new threats such as cybercrime and biological hazards.
Serdar Berdimuhamedov emphasized the need for modern, effective protection mechanisms based on the latest scientific and technological developments that Germany has to offer. He expressed Ashgabat’s interest in cooperation with German specialized institutions in the field of control and monitoring of the mentioned risks.
In conclusion, the President of Turkmenistan proposed to jointly determine algorithms for work in these areas at the international level, primarily within the framework of the UN and its relevant bodies.
