A group of international paleontologists have named the Cretaceous Sahara the deadliest place in the history of the Earth. According to their findings, no living creature could have survived in this region 100 million years ago, writes Mail.ru.

Scientists describe a terrifying ecosystem inhabited by giant predators. Among them, three types of dinosaurs stand out:

Carcharodontosaurus - a monstrous lizard up to 12 meters long with 20-centimeter teeth.

Deltadromeus - a huge relative of the Velociraptor, reaching 13 meters in length.

Pterosaurs - flying reptiles that dominated the skies.

Land predators were not the only threat. In addition, numerous crocodile-like predators and giant coelacanths, which were several times larger than their modern descendants, would have hampered survival. Of particular danger was Onchopristis, an ancient freshwater sawfish with terrifying rostral teeth.

In this deadly environment, according to researchers, even a hypothetical time traveler would not be able to survive.
