The President of Turkmenistan and the Chancellor of Germany held their first bilateral meeting

President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov and Federal Chancellor of Germany Olaf Scholz held their first bilateral meeting within the framework of the “Central Asia – Germany” summit in Astana.

The parties discussed key issues of interstate cooperation and expressed mutual satisfaction with the development of Turkmen-German relations, reported the State News Agency of Turkmenistan.

The meeting was held on the sidelines of the second high-level meeting in the “Central Asia-Germany” format, which is taking place in the capital of Kazakhstan. President Serdar Berdimuhamedov expressed confidence that this meeting will further strengthen ties between the two countries. Chancellor Scholz, in turn, emphasized Germany's high interest in deepening partnership with Turkmenistan.

Serdar Berdimuhamedov and Olaf Scholz noted the solid foundation of bilateral relations, which includes 90 different treaties and agreements. Particular attention was paid to economic cooperation, including the role of the Joint Turkmen-German Working Group and the Eastern Committee of German Economy in the development of interstate relations.

The President of Turkmenistan also conveyed greetings from the National Leader of the Turkmen people, Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, to which the German Chancellor responded with words of gratitude for the contribution to the development of Turkmen-German relations.
