President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov and National Leader of the Turkmen people, Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, as well as Acting Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers of Afghanistan Molla Mohammad Hassan Akhund took part in the opening ceremonies and the start of construction of new infrastructure facilities symbolizing good-neighborly and fraternal relations between Turkmenistan and Afghanistan, reports the State News Agency of Turkmenistan.
Among the significant events of the day were the opening of the 177-meter railway bridge of the Serhetabat-Turgundi steel highway and the laying of the foundation of the “Şatlyk-1” gas compressor station in the Mary velayat.
Construction of the Serhetabat-Herat section, which is an important stage in the implementation of the Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan-India (TAPI) transnational gas pipeline project, has begun. The start of work on laying the Serhetabat-Herat fiber-optic communication line was also an important stage.
In addition, work has begun on the construction of a warehouse complex in the “dry port” of the Turgundi railway station and the Turgundi-Sanabar section of the first stage of the Turgundi-Herat railway. At the end of the activities, the “Nur-el-Jahad” power plant was commissioned in the Afghan province of Herat.
