The first meeting of the National Youth Conference on Climate Change (LCOY) was held in Dashoguz.
The meeting was organized at the Turkmen State Agricultural Institute and became a platform for discussing key issues related to adaptation to climate change, with the participation of young leaders and specialists of the country.
The conference participants included representatives of various UN agencies, the British Embassy, a delegation from Ashgabat, as well as young SDG ambassadors: Jemile Umarova, Yaran Hudayberdiyev, Gurbangul Sapargeldiyeva, and Yslam Saryjayev.
The participants were greeted by a representative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan and the rector of the Agricultural Institute, Dovlet Yolov.
The first session featured speeches from representatives of the UN and the British Embassy, who emphasized the role of international cooperation in combating climate change.
After the general meeting, the participants divided into breakout sessions, where they discussed key topics in working groups:
1.Sustainable agriculture and climate change adaptation technologies.
2.Sustainable water management in the context of climate change.
3.Sustainable management of natural resources in the Turkmen Aral Sea region.
4.Research of the agricultural sector to ensure food security.
The conference ended with a final session, where group leaders presented their proposals for inclusion in the Roadmap of the Turkmenistan Youth Statement. The event ended with a group photo of the participants.
The LCOY in Dashoguz was an important step in activating the youth movement in the field of climate change and laid the foundation for further environmental initiatives in the country.
