Six out of fourteen films by Turkmen authors made it to the finals of the Central Asian competition “Shoot in 48 Hours”. The finalists included the work “Dream” by Turkmen director Myratgeldy Mollayev, as well as films by other creative teams of the country. The OM team from Turkmenistan achieved particular success, whose short film “Owal Ram” (Addiction) won in the nomination “Best Horror/Thriller”.

The “Shoot in 48 Hours” competition annually brings together enthusiastic filmmakers from five Central Asian countries: Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan and Turkmenistan. This year, the participants were given the task of including the phrase “We are here”, a character - a girl in blue, and an object “Home” in their works. At the same time, the genre and script were left to the discretion of the creators.

The film “Dream” by Myratgeldy Mollayev tells the parallel stories of a boy working on the street and a seriously ill father. The boy dreams of a better life, like the life of his client. Meanwhile, the sick father prepares for a risky operation, asking his daughter for forgiveness and promising to survive. The film ends with the thought that one should not dream about someone else's life, since everyone is given a destiny according to their strength.

Other finalists from Turkmenistan include Derman (Brand video collection), Diwar (Shykhiev production), Wagt (Pixel Studio) and Ulysse (Keenua prod).
