A six-week intensive and global course “Mental Health and Psychosocial Support (MHPS) for Children and Caregivers in Difficult Situations” has completed in Turkmenistan.

More than 200 specialists took part in this course, organized by UNICEF.

These are: social workers, school teachers, specialists from rehabilitation centers, family doctors, students and teachers of psychology and social sciences, mid-level managers from the ministries of labor and social protection, education, health and medical industry, as well as representatives of the departments of education, health and social protection regional administrations of all five regions, members of public organizations.

Participants learned practical skills such as identifying and addressing mental health needs, providing emotional support, and creating community mental health programs.

Participants noted that the training provided them with valuable and practical tools to provide psychosocial support in their daily work.

The global course brought together professionals from Turkmenistan with their counterparts in Kazakhstan, creating a valuable opportunity to exchange ideas, knowledge and best practices, UNICEF said in a press release.
