Dan Ndoye scored a goal for the Swiss (28th minute). Niklas Füllkrug scored for the German team (90+2). It is worth noting that Germany’s Robert Andrich’s goal in the 17th minute was disallowed after a VAR check.
At the end of the group stage, Germany, having scored 7 points, took first place in Group A and secured access to the 1/8 finals. Switzerland finished second with 5 points. Their playoff opponents will be announced later.
In the parallel Group A match, Hungary beat Scotland 1-0, scoring in the 100th minute. This goal was the latest in the history of the European Championships, not counting extra time. The Hungarians took third place with 3 points and still have a chance to qualify for the playoffs. Scotland took last place with 1 point and ended its performance in the tournament.
24 teams participate in the championship, divided into 6 groups. The top two teams from each group and the top four third-place teams advance to the playoffs. The final of the tournament will take place on July 14 in Berlin.
