The “Mona Lisa”, Leonardo da Vinci's masterpiece that adorns the Louvre in Paris, has unexpectedly earned the title of “the world's most disappointing masterpiece”. Analysts from the CouponBirds Internet platform came to this conclusion after studying reviews of the 100 most famous paintings. This was reported by rg.ru.
After studying more than 18 000 reviews, CouponBirds found that “Mona Lisa” received 37% negative comments, which is twice the average for the works studied.
Despite its undoubted artistic value, many visitors to the Louvre remain disappointed by their meeting with La Gioconda. CouponBirds analysts attribute this to unorganized crowds of tourists, high ticket prices and high expectations.
In reality, visitors face long lines, limited time to view the painting, and a crowd behind them. As a result, the impressions of meeting a masterpiece may not be as vivid as expected.
Second place in the anti-rating was taken by the painting “Liberty Leading the People” by Eugene Delacroix, also exhibited at the Louvre. Third place went to “The Persistence of Memory” by Salvador Dali from the Museum of Modern Art in New York.
