A monument to the Belarusian classic Yanka Kupala will be erected in the southern part of Ashgabat. The IIC reports this with reference to a statement by the Ambassador of Turkmenistan to Belarus Nazarguly Shagulyev to journalists.
During his visit to Vitebsk State Medical University, N. Shagulyev, in particular, noted that this year marks the 300th anniversary of the great Turkmen poet Magtymguly Fragi. Among the numerous events on this occasion, in October, the arrival of the heads of government of many countries and the opening of a 60-meter monument to the poet in the south of Ashgabat are planned.
“Here, on the alley, there will be monuments to 25 classics of foreign literature and art, including the classic of Belarusian literature Yanka Kupala”, - the ambassador said.
The work of the people's poet of Belarus, playwright, and publicist Yanka Kupala is compared with the best examples of world literature; it represents a real encyclopedia of the life of the Belarusian people.
Like none of the Belarusian poets, Kupala contributed to the formation of the technique of versification, introduced his own rhythms, intonations, and determined the most promising paths along which Belarusian poetry is developing.
