During the 15th meeting of the Council of Elders of the Organization of Turkic States in Ashgabat, the National Leader of the Turkmen people, Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov highlighted the humanitarian sphere as a priority area of joint work, reports the State News Agency of Turkmenistan.
According to the head of the highest body of people's power of Turkmenistan, the Turkic peoples are united by a common language, culture and historical roots. He emphasized the need to remain faithful to these roots, family values, respect for elders, following traditions and customs, showing patriotism and a sense of duty.
Along with strengthening friendship and mutual understanding, the most important task is to educate young people in the spirit of love for the past and pass on to them a thousand-year-old spiritual heritage. The National Leader of the Turkmen people noted that one of the main functions of the Council of Elders is to support national efforts in this direction.
This year, the 300th anniversary of the birth of the great Turkmen thinker and poet Magtymguly Fragi, whom Chairman Halk Maslahaty called the pride of the entire Turkic world, the embodiment of such qualities as nobility, courage, honesty and bravery, is widely celebrated. “Today we are walking together along the path he defined”, - emphasized the head of the highest body of people’s power of Turkmenistan.
