The Prince Mohammed bin Salman stadium, the proposed venue for the 2034 FIFA World Cup, will be built in the Qiddiya entertainment district of Saudi Arabia. The project was developed by the American architectural studio Populous, RBC reports with reference to Dezeen.

The stadium will have a retractable roof, which will permit matches to be held in any weather. The facade of the building will be made of digital cube screens arranged in a checkerboard pattern. They will create a massive digital canvas that will change shape depending on the viewing angle.

The stadium will be able to accommodate 45 thousand people. One side of the stadium will feature a large retractable LED wall where live events, films and laser shows will be broadcast. When there is no broadcast, the wall will be folded down to reveal views of the 200-metre Tuwaiq Mountain on three sides of the field.

Qiddiya is an upcoming entertainment city located 45 km from Riyadh, the capital of Saudi Arabia. The project design was developed by the American architectural bureau BIG. The city center will be a mixed-use village dedicated to sports and the arts.
