The men's and women's 3x3 basketball teams of Turkmenistan took the first two and two second places at the Euroasia 3x3 Tournament that ended in Istanbul.
The men's team included: Merdan Hojamedov, Yevgeniy Nazipov, Annaguly Hojagulyev, Kerim Mammetmyradov, Shalar Hydyrov, Dovlet Narmyradov, Kirill Besh and Maksat Hojaberdiyev.
The women's team was represented by: Zibagozel Hydyrova, Dilfuza Azizova, Anastasia Altybayeva, Mahrijemal Jumageldiyeva, Maria Salmina, Jennet Hajimammedova, Medine Ernepesova and Aynura Myradova.
They were trained by experienced mentors - Toyly Bayriyev and Timur Timurhanov.
It should be noted that the referee for the tournament was FIBA international class referee from Turkmenistan Bahtiyar Ibragimov. The delegation was headed by the Secretary General of the Basketball Federation of Turkmenistan, member of the FIBA Asia executive committee Bahar Mahtumova.
The competition consisted of two qualifying rounds and a final round. At the decisive stage, 24 teams competed for men and 8 for women.
The final places were distributed as follows:
Men:
- 1st place – Ashgabat
- 2nd place – Turkmenistan
- 3rd place – Zix (Lebanon)
Women:
- 1st place – Turkmenistan
- 2nd place – Ashgabat (junior team under 18 years old)
- 3rd place – Yildirim girls (Türkiye)
It is worth adding that in the overall FIBA 3x3 basketball rankings, Turkmenistan ranks 33rd out of 150 countries. When compiling, not only the personal indicators of the players are taken into account, but also the results of national federations. The rating permits teams to receive tickets to major world-class competitions.
