The Perseverance rover transmitted to Earth materials depicting a strange spot on the surface of the Sun, MIR 24 writes.
According to scientists from NASA, the spot moves along the solar surface and by the end of August will be in direct line of sight from Earth. This can lead to powerful geomagnetic storms causing disruption of electronics and communication systems.
Judging by the fact that the spot turned out to be noticeable even from Mars, which is 80 million kilometers farther from the Sun than the Earth, its dimensions are huge, although no one can give exact numbers.
Scientists associate the formation of spots on the Sun with a magnetic field that prevents the release of hot gases from the depths of the star to its surface. Sunspots, flares and ejecta on the Sun provoke magnetic storms on Earth.
