For the first time in Turkmenistan, the Scientific and Clinical Center for Maternal and Child Health has performed an orthopedic operation using the Pemberton method, which is used for complex diseases of the hip joint.
According to the Neutral Turkmenistan newspaper, the operation was performed on a 5,5-year-old child, Atajan Shohradov, a resident of the Lebap velayat, who is under the care of the Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov Charitable Foundation for Assistance to Children in Need of Care.
The new method was mastered by Turkmen specialists a year ago within the framework of international cooperation in the field of healthcare, when the doctor of the Dritter Orden clinic in Munich (Germany), Professor Vincent Frimberger visited the Scientific and Clinical Center for Maternal and Child Health. The purpose of the visit was to exchange experience and introduce the Pemberton method into the practice of Turkmen surgeons.
Also, the NCC MCH was donated by the Charitable Foundation a set of necessary surgical instruments for performing an orthopedic operation using the Pemberton method.
