Scientists of Turkmenistan paid a working visit to Spain

Representatives of the scientific and educational sectors of Turkmenistan paid a working visit to Spain in March. This trip was carried out within the framework of the Plan of upcoming events on the occasion of the solemn celebration of the 300th anniversary of the birth of the great thinker and classical poet of the East Magtymguly Fragi.

According to the “Neutral Turkmenistan” newspaper, during the visit, a meeting was held with representatives of the Spanish scientific and educational sphere at the Center for the Study of Arabic Manuscripts in the city of Granada. This educational institution is one of the main centers of Spain, where handwritten monuments, rare books and archival materials related to the history, literature, culture of the East and West, including the Turkmen people, are stored.

The participants of the meeting discussed issues related to the preservation and study of manuscripts, as well as the implementation of joint projects.

Also, the Turkmen delegation took part in a scientific conference dedicated to the work of Magtymguly and in a literary evening by the translator of the University of Granada, 93 years old Helga Dorosea Cors Kegel, who translated the poems of the Turkmen classic into Spanish.

During the business trip, the Turkmen delegation visited the Centers for the Study of Arabic and Turkish Manuscripts in Madrid, got acquainted with the manuscripts stored there. The Spanish side handed over to the Turkmen scientists an electronic copy of the manuscript “Shasenem and Garip”, the original of which is kept in the treasury of the Royal Academy of History.

All events with the participation of the Turkmen delegation were organized by the Ministry of Science and Innovation of the Kingdom of Spain, the University of Granada, as well as the Academy of Sciences, the Ministry of Education, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan. They were attended by Spanish orientalists, figures of literature and culture, representatives of the scientific and educational sector of the country, archaeologists.
