In Russia, a bill is being considered that provides for fines for enterprises that have not reduced their pollutant emissions by 2027. As notes TASS, for exceeding emissions, it is planned to impose a fine in the amount of 10% of revenue.

“We will establish fines in the administrative code for exceeding emissions by quotas. Today there is no responsibility. We will set fines for intermediate stages of quotas as a warning up to 250 thousand rubles. And if you haven’t reduced emissions by 2027, then the fine will already be 10% of revenue”, said Alexander Kozlov, head of the Russian Ministry of Natural Resources.

He also added that the bill is currently under consideration by the government.

Let us note that, according to experts, keeping the increase in the average global temperature at a level no higher than 2,0°C will require a reduction in global greenhouse gas emissions by 25% by 2030, and keeping the increase in temperature by 1,5°C will require 45% by 2050.
