Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi has inaugurated the world's highest railway bridge, the Chenab Bridge in the mountainous valley of Kashmir, CNN reports.
The bridge across the Chenab River was built over several decades. The height of the arched structure above the river is 359 m, which is 29 m higher than the Eiffel Tower. The length of the structure is 1315 m, the cost of construction exceeded 160 million USD.
The Chenab Bridge is part of the first railway line connecting Kashmir with the rest of India.
During his working visit, the Indian Prime Minister also inaugurated the Udhampur-Srinagar-Baramulla railway line, which connects key cities in the region with other parts of the country.
