The current state and prospects for cooperation in the context of implementing the agreements reached at the highest level and plans for future were discussed today by President Serdar Berdimuhamedov with Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation, Co-Chairman of the Intergovernmental Turkmen-Russian Commission on Economic Cooperation Alexei Overchuk, who arrived in Turkmenistan at the head of a representative delegation, the information program “Watan” of the Turkmen television reported.
The Head of Turkmenistan noted with satisfaction that the Turkmen-Russian cooperation, based on the principles of sincere friendship, equality and mutual respect, is successfully developing in all directions.
Parliamentary ties have also noticeably intensified.
During the meeting, special attention was paid to cooperation in trade, economic, scientific and technical spheres, which is characterized by an effective nature. It was noted that the mutual trade turnover has shown good dynamics in recent years. Among the priority areas of the partnership were the oil and gas sector, industry, transport and logistics, trade and a number of other industries.
In this context, an important role is assigned to the Intergovernmental Turkmen-Russian Commission, whose activities are aimed at realizing the existing potential of economic partnership and are designed to promote the diversification of productive contacts in various fields, stimulate business and investment activity, and implement new joint projects.
Alongside with this, it was stressed that the traditional humanitarian dialog is no less important field of intergovernmental interaction. Here, a special place is taken by established fruitful ties in the field of education, science and culture, as well as in the field of healthcare.
During the meeting, confidence was expressed that the bilateral meetings planned as a part of the current visit of the Russian Federation Delegation to Ashgabat will give a possibility to discuss key aspects of further cooperation and identify it’s the most perspective directions.
