Liz Truss is elected to the post of Prime Minister of Great Britain

The new Prime Minister of the United Kingdom and leader of the Conservative Party has become the head of the British Minister of Foreign Affairs Liz Truss, TASS reports.

57,4% of the members of her party voted for Truss, and her opponent, the former Minister of Finance Rishi Sunak, received 42.6% of votes.

The elections of the new head of the Conservative Party ended on September 2, votes counting continued up to September 5. Finally, tomorrow, on September 6, Liz Truss will replace Prime-Minister Boris Johnson and appoint a new Government.

Truss will become the 56th female Prime Minister of Great Britain and the 15th for the time of the Queen Elisabeth II reigning. She will also become a third women to head the Cabinet of Ministers after Margaret Thatcher and Theresa May.
