In Turkmenistan was established an Orgcommittee on conduction of Sambo World Championship in 2025 at the Sports complex of martial arts of the Olympic City in Ashgabat. Corresponding Decree was signed today by the President Serdar Berdimuhamedov during the meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers, reports the information program “Watan” of the Turkmen television.
The document prescribes:
- The Ministry of Sports and Youth Policy, in coordination with the International Sambo Federation, to develop and approve the Regulations on holding the World Sambo Championship;
- The Ministry of Education, the Ministry of Sports and Youth Policy should ensure the involvement of students of higher educational institutions of Turkmenistan as volunteers to provide translation services to foreign participants of the championship;
- The Ministry of Sports and Youth Policy should organize training sessions of the national team of Turkmenistan, as well as athletes of foreign countries participating in this championship, in the martial arts sports complex of the Olympic City of Ashgabat and at its other sports facilities.
We remind that in accordance with the adopted in June 2019 a Decree of the President of Turkmenistan, Sambo World Championship was planned to be held in 2020, therefore necessary organizational works were conducted together with the International Sambo Federation.
However, due to the occurred epidemiological situation in the world the World Championship in Ashgabat was moved twice. First in 202, and then in 2022. This year, as it is known, this tournament will be held from the period of November 11 to 13.
As per the words of the Vice – Premier overseeing sports sector Nurmuhammet Amannepesov at the conducted meeting of the Executive Committee of the International Sambo Federation held on April 27, 2022, it was decided to hold the previously planned World Sambo Championship in Ashgabat in 2025. This proposal was announced by the Ministry of Sports and Youth Policy together with the National Federation of Martial Arts and supported.
After hearing the report, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov emphasized the importance of holding the upcoming World Sambo Championship in the Turkmen capital at a high organizational level, taking into account its importance for further enhancing the sports authority of sovereign Turkmenistan, strengthening traditionally friendly relations with foreign countries.
The Head of state noted that the Ministry of Sports and Youth Policy together with the National Federation of Martial Arts should execute multisector activities on strengthening of healthy life principles and active attracting of young generation to sports activities.
Moreover, the President of the country instructed the Vice – Premier to conduct necessary works on selection of the best sportsmen into the national sambo team and preparation to this important international contest.
