The youth national team of Turkmenistan defeated the Iranian team with a score of 2:1 during the second round of the group stage of the Asian Football Cup (under 23). The meeting was held at the “Bunyodkor” stadium in Tashkent.
The winners scored: Arzuvguly Sapargulyev (28th minute — from the penalty spot) and Teymur Charyev (80th), the losers — Alireza Bavie (8th).
For Turkmenistan, the victory was a landmark — it is the first success for the youth team in history in the Asian Cup (under 23), where the national team also participates for the first time.
Turkmenistan will play Qatar in the next round on June 7, and Iran will face Uzbekistan.
