Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty of the Milli Gengesh of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov was awarded the Order "For Merits to the Republic of Tatarstan". The award was presented by the President of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov at the meeting today, the Press Service of the Tatarstan leader reports.
Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov stated that it was "a great honor for him to accept the highest award of the Republic of Tatarstan" and noted that he regarded it as a sign of great respect of the brotherly Tatarstan to the people of Turkmenistan.
The Order "For Merits to the Republic of Tatarstan" was established on March 24, 2004. It is the highest state award of the Republic of Tatarstan. This Order is awarded to citizens for particularly outstanding achievements in the development of the statehood of the Republic of Tatarstan, ensuring rights and freedoms of citizens, development of economy, culture, science, education, healthcare, art and sports, for their courage and bravery in protecting public order.
It should be added that this is not the first state award of the Republic of Tatarstan presented to Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov. Earlier in 2017, he became a holder of the Order “Duslyk” (“Friendship").
