Turkmenistan aims to activate cooperation with UNESCO

In the framework of the regular meeting of the National Commission of Turkmenistan for UNESCO held in Ashgabat, the issues of activating the ongoing work on the nomination of native Turkmen arts in the UNESCO Representative List of Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity were considered, the website of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan reports.

The participants of the meeting paid their attention to extension of the cooperation legal ground and intensification of interaction in the sphere of digital technologies.

During the meeting the information about the work on the nomination of the art of Ahalteke horse breeding and breeding of Turkmen alabai to the UNESCO List of Intangible Cultural Heritage of Mankind was heard. Organizational issues related to the inclusion of the city of Ashgabat in the UNESCO Global Network of Creative Cities in the creative field of “Design”, as well as the creation of UNESCO chairs in a number of universities in the country, were considered.

Moreover, the importance of Turkmenistan joining to the UNESCO Convention, including the Convention “On Measures aimed at Prohibiting and Preventing the Illegal Import, Export and Transfer of Ownership of Cultural Property” was also emphasized.

The Deputy Chairmen of the Cabinet of Ministers, Executive Secretary of the National Commission of Turkmenistan for UNESCO, heads and representatives of relevant ministries and departments of the country, the administration of the Turkmen capital attended the meeting.
