Hockey players of the Turkmenistan national team will go to Luxembourg for the World Championship through Germany

Today from Ashgabat International Airport on a flight to Frankfurt am Main the Turkmen hockey players will take off for the 2022 World Championship in the third division of group “A”, reports the “Turkmenistan: Golden Age” website.

The Turkmenistan national team will travel by bus to Luxembourg upon arrival in Germany, where they will play their opening match against the UAE team on April 3.

Turkmen hockey players will play with the owners of the ice rink – the Luxemburg on April 5, with rivals from Taiwan – on April 7, and will enter the tournament with the Turkish team game on April 8.

At the World Championship starting in Luxemburg in the third division of group “A” the Turkmenistan national team will be presented by 20 hockey players.

The national team included 17 players from the “Galkan” club of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, including both goalkeepers - Kerimli Charyyev and Rahman Muradov. HC "Shir" is represented by two hockey players - defender Ovezguly Esenov and forward Arslan Amanov, and the club "Oguzhan" - defender Nikita Avdeev.

In total the Turkmenistan delegation leaving for Luxemburg includes 26 people, and 6 officials, including coaches and the medical staff off the team.

A ticket to the 2023 World Cup of the second division of group B will receive only the winner of the tournament in Luxemburg.

The Ice Hockey World Championship is held in several divisions depending on the ranking of the teams.

The upcoming world championship in Luxemburg will be the second in the history of Turkmen hockey. Our compatriots, making their debut at the World Championships in Sofia (Bulgaria) in 2019, took third place in the third division among 6 teams, that represented Europe, Asia and Africa. The head coach Bayram Allayarov led the team to this achievement, under whose leadership our hockey player won small gold medals in the second division tournament in the program of the VIII Asian

Winter Games in Sapporo (Japan) in 2017, and won in Sarajevo (Bosnia and Herzegovina) in 2018 Qualifying tournament for the World Cup with the participation of four teams.
