The strategy on implementation of “Lazurit” transit – transport corridor was introduced in Ashgabat during a two-day regional seminar conducted in a hybrid form, the Turkmen Foreign Ministry reports.
The seminar was organized by OSCE Centre in Ashgabat which has initiated the development of the strategy and action plan on its implementation in the framework of support provision to the countries, that signed the agreement on transit and transport “Lazurit”.
The strategy is designed to further strengthening of regional economic integration and transport potential, radically decrease geographical distances by applying reasonable execution of all modes of transport.
More that 60 representatives from four countries that signed “Lazurit” agreement: Azerbaijan, Georgia, Turkmenistan and Turkey, took part in the seminar.
The event was also attended by the Secretary General of the Permanent Secretariat of the TRACECA Intergovernmental Commission, the Head of Component 3 of the EU-funded Border Management Assistance Program in Central Asia and OSCE experts who presented best practices in the field of trade and transport facilitation.
The participants exchanged views and suggestions on finalizing the strategy and action plan. The OSCE Center will facilitate the process of reviewing the strategy and action plan so that they become an integral part of the national development strategy of the signatory countries.
With this in view, the seminar participants defined further steps in providing support to “Lazurit” agreement partners in full capacity implementation of their transport and transit potential, the source reports.
