Specialists of the State Library of the State Cultural Center of Turkmenistan participated in the international scientific and practical online conference “Science, Technology and Information in Libraries (LIBWAY-2022)”, reports the “Neutral Turkmenistan” newspaper.
The State public scientific and technical library of the Siberian Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences organized the event.
Scientists from Novosibirsk, librarians from Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, the People’s Republic of China, Azerbaijan participated the conference.
Library’s specialists from different countries discussed the issues of the global transition to digital culture and its impact on the system of scientific communications.
During the video meeting, was an exchange of views, where were touched such topics as the activities of information and library institutions, open access to scientific resources, patent research, electronic libraries as an element of digital culture, and the development of electronic local history.
The participants were unanimous in their opinion, that the library, remaining a traditional repository of knowledge, should meet the modern needs of readers, actively communicate with them, including in a virtual environment.
The participants of the conference agreed to continue further cooperation.
