The inauguration of the elected President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov took place in Ashgabat. This is reported by the website "Turkmenistan: Golden Age".
The ceremony was attended by the members of the Government and the Security Council, heads of the Government Agencies, diplomats and journalists.
The State Flag of Turkmenistan, the Standard of the President of Turkmenistan, the Constitution of Turkmenistan and the Holy Quran were brought into the hall of the capital's Palace "Rukhyet".
Chairman of the Central Election Commission Gulmurad Muradov delivered Berdimuhamedov the President’s Certificate. Then, putting his hand on the Constitution, the new Head of State took the Presidential Oath, making a commitment to "strictly follow the Constitution and laws of Turkmenistan, guarantee the rights and freedoms of the citizens, faithfully fulfill the duties assigned to the President of Turkmenistan."
In the country, the Presidential elections were held on March 12. The voters turnout was 97.17% or 3,362,052 people. The CEC, after counting all the ballots, announced the victory of the candidate from the Democratic Party, Serdar Berdimuhamedov, who received 72.97% of the votes.
In Turkmenistan, the Presidential elections are held every seven years.
