Celebrations in Turkmenistan on the occasion of the coming New Year should be held at the highest level, widely and brightly. President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov gave a corresponding order to the vice-premiers during the government meeting on Friday.
The Turkmen leader stressed that the events should “become another manifestation of national unity, consolidation, and the best traditions”.
“The holiday should take place in the atmosphere inherent in the generous Turkmen atmosphere, giving everyone, and especially children, a lot of joy, fun and unforgettable impressions,” Berdimuhamedov said.
The head of the Turkmen state pointed out the importance of holding a cultural program, including various events not only in the capital, but in all velayats of the country, the “Neutral Turkmenistan” newspaper reported today.
The New Year's festive marathon starts with a traditional lighting ceremony at the country's Main Christmas Tree, which will be installed in front of the Älem Cultural and Entertainment Center and will continue throughout the country. One of the brightest events of the New Year's week will be the final of the creative competition among young pop performers Ýylyň parlak ýyldyzy (“Shining Star of the Year”).
The main New Year celebrations on December 31 will take place in the squares in front of the Älem Cultural and Entertainment Center, the State Circus, as well as at the giant White yurts in the velayats, where festive shows with the participation of cultural figures and art masters will take place. The capital and regions of the country will be connected by a New Year's teleconference.
