Turkmenistan sets transit fees for foreign owners of cargo trailers

In Turkmenistan, fees and payments have been established from November 15, 2021 to November 15, 2022 from the owners of truck trailers and semi-trailers. The corresponding Resolution was signed today by President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, the “Vatan” news program of the Turkmen television reported.

The document refers to foreign logistics companies and individuals from member countries of the Agreement on the Iran-Oman-Turkmenistan-Uzbekistan transport and transit corridor and the Agreement on the Lapis Corridor route, or to foreign trailers and semi-trailers traveling through the territory of these states when entering Turkmenistan and in the event of non-use of trucks of foreign countries in transit through its territory.

The decree was adopted “in order to streamline cargo transportation by foreign trailers and increase the competitiveness of the transport complex of Turkmenistan in the international system of cargo transportation”.

As a reminder, for the period from November 15, 2020 to November 15, 2021, for owners of foreign cargo trailers, the amount of payments at the entrance to Turkmenistan was set at 150 US dollars, and in case of non-use during transit through its territory – 100 US dollars.

Whether the dimensions remained at the same level or were changed is not reported.

Let us remind you that the Lapis Lazuli transport corridor connects Afghanistan-Turkmenistan-Azerbaijan-Georgia-Turkey.
