The current state and prospects for the development of Turkmen-Chinese cooperation, which in recent years has been given the status of a strategic partnership, were discussed today in Ashgabat by Vice-premier, Co-Chairman of the Intergovernmental Turkmen-Chinese Committee for Cooperation from the Turkmen side Serdar Berdimuhamedov and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the People's Republic of China Wang I.

Let us remind you that the head of the Chinese Foreign Ministry is in Turkmenistan on a two-day visit as part of a Central Asian tour.

As noted at the meeting, today Beijing and Ashgabat have worked out the most optimal formula of interstate relations, which allows combining the similarity of the tasks, taking into account the national interests of each side and the mentality of the Turkmen and Chinese peoples, who, since the days of the Great Silk Road, had friendly and highly trusting relations.

The achieved high level of mutual understanding and respect between the two countries and their leaders, coupled with regular, productive contacts at various levels, create a favorable basis for effective interaction in a number of key areas. Among the most important of them are the trade and economic, fuel and energy, transport and communication and cultural and humanitarian spheres, cooperation in which fully meets the development priorities of the two friendly states.

An interest was also expressed in continuing joint work in other equally important segments of the national economies of the two countries, in particular, the textile, chemical, food industry, agro-industrial complex and many other areas where the addition of efforts is seen as the most promising.

In this regard, great tasks are assigned to the Intergovernmental Turkmen-Chinese Committee for Cooperation, focused on the effective implementation of the existing impressive economic and export potential, creating conditions for a closer partnership and further diversification of established bilateral ties.

The parties agreed on the need to continue the practice of holding regular bilateral meetings to maintain an active dialogue, supported by important joint projects in recent years.

At the end of the meeting, confidence was expressed in the further progressive development of the established constructive interstate dialogue, based on the centuries-old traditions of friendship and trust between the Turkmen and Chinese peoples, the State News Agency of Turkmenistan reports.
