President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov presented a three-room apartment on the ground floor of a building in the Olympic town of Ashgabat to the coach-teacher of the weightlifting section of the School of Higher Sports Excellence of the Ministry of Sports and Youth Policy of Turkmenistan Meretguly Sahetmyradov. The head of state signed the corresponding order today.
By the decree of the President of Turkmenistan, he was also awarded a medal “For Love for the Motherland”, the “Vatan” news program of the Turkmen television reported.
Under the leadership of M. Sahetmyradov, Yulduz Jumabaev (weight category up to 45 kg) at the 2018 World Championships in Ashgabat won a silver medal (in snatch - 75 kg) and two gold medals with world records among juniors - in jerk (104 kg) and combined double – event (179 kg). The last two awards were solemnly presented today by the President of Turkmenistan at a ceremony in Ashgabat.
Recall that initially, Tunya Sukcharoen from Thailand won gold in this weight. Later, the Thai athlete was disqualified and deprived of a medal for violating anti-doping rules, which became known after rechecking the samples of athletes who performed at the 2018 World Cup in Ashgabat.
As a result of the redistribution of medals, Yulduz Jumabayeva, a 5th year student of the Turkmen State Institute of Physical Culture and Sports, was declared the winner. This is the first and so far the only big success for Yulduz at the World Championships.
