The issues of preparing joint proposals for inclusion in the Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity by UNESCO were put on the agenda of an online meeting, which took place today at the Ministry of Culture with representatives of the UNESCO Cluster Office (Tehran).

According to the State News Agency of Turkmenistan, the meeting participants discussed the multinomination file “Art of Embroidery” (“Keşdeçilik sungaty”) - a Turkmen handicraft art, rooted in ancient times.

During the exchange of views, it was noted that Turkmenistan, fully supporting humanitarian integration, actively promotes and in practice implements initiatives and projects in the field of culture that are significant on the UNESCO platform, aimed at developing interaction.

The Turkmen art of embroidery is an integral part of the national cultural heritage, reflecting the identity and originality of the traditions of the Turkmen people. Recognition of the world significance of the art of embroidery will contribute to its preservation and will further strengthen the cultural ties of peoples.

Recall that on January 30, on the instructions of the leader of the nation, the second meeting of the National Commission of Turkmenistan for UNESCO was held, at which a range of issues was discussed on the further inclusion of historical and cultural monuments of our country in the UNESCO World Heritage List, as well as expanding cooperation with this organization.
