Turkmenistan for nine months of this year increased total value of electricity export by a factor of 2.4 in comparison with the same period for 2019. Physical volume of deliveries in accordance with the data from Federal Public Statistics Service increased in 2.1 times. It is informed by information agency “Media – Turkmen”.
It should be noted that the main buyers of Turkmen electro energy at present time are Afghanistan, Iran, Uzbekistan. In the nearest future, it is planned to increase delivery to Afghanistan.
- In January-October 2020, enterprises subordinate to the Ministry of Energy of the country increased electricity production by 40.3% compared to the same period in 2019. For ten months of this year, they have fulfilled the production plan by 122.9%, the source writes.
In accordance with the source, in early 2020, Charymyrat Purchekov, who previously held the post of Deputy Prime Minister of the Cabinet, was appointed head of the Ministry of Energy of Turkmenistan.
Appointing him to the position of the Ministry, Turkmen leader underlined the necessity of increasing of electro energy production and export volume, construction of electric transmission line Turkmenistan – Afghanistan – Pakistan (TAPI).
To add, according to the plan for the development of the energy industry, by 2024, electricity production in the country should reach 33 billion kilowatt-hours per year. For reaching of this goal modernization process of acting production capacity is ongoing. In 2018 first combined cycle power plant was opened.
