The participation of Turkmen schoolchildren in the next international Olympiad, this time in biology, was crowned with an impressive team victory. Young school biologists from different regions of Turkmenistan successfully participated in the international biology Olympiad Mendel's Biology International Olympiad. Our national team has a total of 64 medals of various denominations: seven gold, 22 silver and 35 bronze, the “Neutral Turkmenistan” newspaper reports.
Four gold medals were awarded to students of the Ashgabat specialized boarding school. The team of the capital's specialized school No. 86 performed with a double "gold" result. One "golden" victory was won by a student from the specialized school No. 28 in the city of Turkmenabat. Students of the Ashgabat specialized comprehensive boarding school also won six silver medals. The remaining 16 silver awards were shared by students of educational institutions of Ashgabat and Lebap velayat, they have seven medals each, and one for children from the Balkan and Dashoguz velayats. The largest number of bronze medals, and 22 of them, were earned by Lebap schoolchildren. Students of Ashgabat and Dashoguz velayat received six awards of the same value, and one bronze medal was awarded to the Balkan Olympians.
More than 230 young biologists from nine countries participated in the international Olympiad this year: Kyrgyzstan, Turkmenistan, Tajikistan, Iran, Nigeria, Iraq, Kazakhstan, Bulgaria and Canada.
