The website of the Italian Embassy in Turkmenistan on the eve of the national holiday of the Turkmen horse notes that a number of Italian breeding farms in Brescia, Lucca, Oristano and other cities cultivate and train Akhal - Teke horses-they are highly valued and participate in European tournaments.

Italy reverently refers to the famous monument on the Capitoline square in Rome, depicting the Emperor Marcus Aurelius riding his steed of Eastern blood. The horse harness speaks volumes about the fact that the Emperor's horse was a descendant of the "heavenly horses". The monument was created in 176 by Michelangelo.
